Manifestations Of Hate

There are multitudes of ways that hate can be manifested. Here we will just focus on three of them, murder, lying and inability to speak peaceably.

1 John 3:15: Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Proverbs 26:28: A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

Genesis 37:4: And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

It is relatively easy to understand that murderers hate their victims. It may be more difficult to understand that liars hate the ones that they harm. And still more difficult to understand that an inability to speak peaceably to someone is a manifestation of hate. Are there some who cannot speak peaceably to you? And, even worse, are there some to whom you cannot speak peaceably? We need to pray for those who cannot speak peaceably to us. And if there are some to whom we cannot speak peaceably, we need to pray for ourselves. The flesh of even Christians can hate but we are instructed to walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, . . .

Job 22:21: Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

Proverbs 16:7: When a man*s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Romans 12:18: If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Hebrews 12:14: Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

James 1:20: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Proverbs 17:14: The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

2 Timothy 2:24: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

1 Peter 5:14: Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Matthew 5:9: Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Philippians 4:7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

A peaceful attitude should be a characteristic of a believer and it is a good testimony. I was delighted when a young woman heard a little of my testimony and told me: I knew it! I knew there was a peace about you. And, of course, this is not to say that we should not reprove others of sin or have fellowship with the unrepentant.

2 Timothy 4:2: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

2 Corinthians 6:14: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
